Our first date

01

about

aloha!

was on Valentine's day. I took Kate to the beach for a picnic. We talked and laughed over chocolate fondue. The sun set and we held each other while gazing at the stars and listening to the waves roll in. Suddenly we were interrupted. A group of seniors started singing love songs outside of a Hawaiian resort about 20 yards away. We laughed. Could this really be happening? I squeezed her tight. We soaked in the ocean air while being serenaded to. It was the most romanic first date imaginable.

I daydreamed about what it would be like to fall in love with my future bride, but in my wildest dreams I never thought it would look like this. Wow! What a beautiful gift from above.

First came love,
then came marriage,
then came three
beautiful babies.

We had three miscarriages, almost loosing Kate during the last one.

Then the our day of victory came!

Holding our first born was one of the very best

moments of our lives. We had fought long and hard for her. Now she was finally in our arms.

Since then we've had two more boys, and our home is now full of laughter. Kate and I often talk about how crazy blessed we are but sometimes we get distracted by all of the business. In the midst of moving multiple times, going through a couple of career changes and raising our little ones we often forget to take the time to focus on each other. To treasure what matters most.

That's why I love photography.

We're

love
up
to
chance!

If our marriage ever struggles, we have a plan. We're heading to Hawaii!

I'm serious. That's where we met, and if we ever forget how much we love each other we're heading there for a couple of weeks. Or months. Or years. However long it would take to stir up and renew our love. The Bible talks about stirring up your love by doing the things that you first did. That's our plan.

So far, we've never hit a rough patch in our relationship (although we've talked about getting into a big fight just to have an excuse to go to Hawaii). One thing that helps us keep our love alive in the midst of the day to day is photos. We have them on our walls, our phones, in albums, on our computers and more. We've surrounded ourselves with reminders of how much we treasure each other and value our relationship. We remind ourselves to celebrate our marriage and family everyday.

This is why I love wedding and family photos. They remind us what matters most.

I get so excited to equip couples with these reminders. They're power weapons when used to fight off distractions and indifference. They have the ability to help strengthen your marriage as you stir up your passion for each other and celebrate your love... for a lifetime!
